ReStore's First Month in New Location A Huge Success

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

The ReStore supports the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County by generating revenue to pay to overhead expenses of the organization. This means financial gifts from donors can be allocated to Habitat building and repair projects, while payroll and administrative expenses are covered by sales in the ReStore. Its an efficient way to make sure Habitat has the staff it needs to operate and to ensure donor impact is maximized.

The ReStore also helps consumers save on home repair and improvement- by selling donated materials and items at big discounts- the ReStore helps our neighbors keep their homes in good working order on any budget. An added bonus is that donations to the ReStore reduce waste that may otherwise end up in local landfills.

A new, larger ReStore was on the horizon for sometime and finally fully realized this March when our new 17K square foot facility located at 715 E 15th Street began to welcome shoppers. The staff and board of Habitat was optimistic that the new location, with improved donation processing facilities, off-street parking, and a better layout, would enable the organization to grow revenue, create new job opportunities, and help meet the needs of the organization as it continues to grow in the community.

Now, a month later- we are thrilled to report our first month in our new home is officially the highest grossing month of sales in ReStore history! Even with a four day closure from the spring blizzard, the sales far surpassed expectations.

The ReStore, currently open Tuesdays- Saturdays from 9:00 AM-5:30 PM has already hired a number of new staff to keep up with demand, with more hires coming soon. We'll also be working on expanding our donation pick-up services and processing capacity.

The entire team at Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County wishes to thank the community for its enthusiastic support of our ReStore. New inventory arrives daily, so we hope customers will make a habit of coming by to see what's new.

A grand re-opening celebration will be held on Saturday June 5- we'll have food trucks, activities, door-prizes and more. We look forward to a celebration of our new space, and the good work that will be possible from our success!
