CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County is excited to announce the opening of its homeownership application period for its newest affordable housing development at 5th Street and Bent Avenue in Cheyenne.  The development name will be unveiled this fall.

From August 17 through September 25, 2026, Habitat for Humanity will accept applications for four new affordable homes to be built as part of the 5th & Bent development. As Habitat continues to expand affordable homeownership opportunities throughout Laramie County, the organization encourages individuals and families who have found homeownership financially out of reach to apply.

Habitat for Humanity's homeownership program is designed for families who need safe, affordable housing and are willing to invest in their future. Qualified applicants partner with Habitat by completing volunteer "sweat equity" hours, participating in homebuyer education, and purchasing their home through an affordable mortgage.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing.

  • Have an income between 30% - 80% the Area Median Income

  • Show the ability to pay an affordable mortgage.

  • Be willing to partner with Habitat through sweat equity and homeowner education.

Applications will be accepted Monday, August 17, through Friday, September 25, 2026. All completed applications must be received by the application deadline.

Individuals interested in learning more about the program, eligibility requirements, and the application process are encouraged to visit cheyennehabitat.org or contact Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County at (307) 637-8067.
