Even though we must stay apart, we are still building together.
We thought we were going to have a big, joyous ground blessing event for our first ever Faith Build project and our 50th home. We imagined pastors giving blessings, neighbors singing songs, and a nice opportunity for some fellowship with our supporters and our 2020 partner family, the Stephensons.
Then the world came to a grinding halt. You know the story, we're all in it together.
2020 Partner Family- The Stephensons
Future homeowner, Jaime, wasn't going to let a global pandemic stop him from getting started on his required sweat equity hours, and has been working (at a safe distance) alongside our construction team.
It was great to see his enthusiasm to work, but it was hard seeing him do so without the support and encouragement our homeowners usually get from our volunteers and supporters. Its a big part of the process. We want our partner families to understand how much they are loved and cared for by the community they will own a home in. There is just nothing quite like the bonds that are formed after a long day building together.
So we decided to get creative. Instead of inviting people to the build site, we asked them to reach out to us virtually. Church leaders sent us video blessings and prayers, and we asked the community to send words of encouragement that we could write on the framing of the home, to surround the family with love.
As a part of the Faith Build Program, all donations up to $80,000 will be matched by Thrivent Financial. Have your donation doubled now by clicking here.
