WE'VE GOT 20/20 VISION!

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

With a new year (and a new decade!) upon us, all of us at Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County are getting excited about our plans for 2020! You'll be hearing a lot more about all of these initiatives in the months to come, but we just couldn't wait to share some of our very exciting news.

For 29 years, Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County has been building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. With your support, we'll keep creating home ownership opportunities for families in Cheyenne.

This year we're building our 50th affordable home in Cheyenne! When families are free from the burdens of housing insecurity, they can focus their energy on the things that matter most in life- their families, their careers, and their communities. Year after year the Cheyenne community comes together to offer a hand up to working families dreaming of home ownership.

In 2020 we're building a new home on Sonata Lane, next door to our 2017 partner family's house. The build season kicks off on May 15 & 16 with our annual Women's Build, and continues all summer long.

Join us to celebrate this milestone by signing up to build with us, providing lunch or refreshments for the volunteers, or by donating to help us purchase the materials we'll need to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable housing.

In 2020 Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County is creating a home ownership opportunity for someone who has served our country. We'll be fully renovating a home on Cheyenne's South-side for a veteran to call home.

In partnership with Lynn Buys Houses, and sponsored by our local Credit Unions (much more on that soon!) we'll bring people together to eliminate some blight, improve a neighborhood and to get a worthy veteran on the stable foundation that home-ownership provides.

You can help by volunteering to build with us, or by donating to purchase the materials we'll need to give back to someone who has given our country so much.

If you'd like more information on business sponsorship opportunities for the 2020 Veterans Build Program, contact Executive Director, Kate Wright- kate@cheyennehfh.org or 307-637-8067

Supporting affordable housing is more than just building and renovating homes for new homeowners, we also help existing low-income homeowners struggling to afford repairs and maintenance on their homes.

Habitat Repairs is working in neighborhoods across Cheyenne restoring the dignity and pride that should come from home-ownership.

In 2020, we need your help. We currently have 15 low-income homeowners waiting for assistance. We need contractors- particularly Plumbers, electricians, and HVAC contractors, willing to take on these smaller projects, (sign up for our call for bids email list now by emailing pat@cheyennehfh.org) We also need volunteers to help, its how we keep repair costs affordable. Volunteering on a Repairs project is a wonderful way to help a neighbor in need and to make a big impact!

And in Him you too are being built together

to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.- Ephesians 2:22

In 2020, our affiliate has been blessed with the opportunity to receive up to $80,000 in matching funds through Thrivent Financial's Faith Build grant program. We'll be working closely with Cheyenne's faithful to shine their light and change the lives of a Cheyenne family through the stability of home ownership.

Congregations will be asked to pray for everyone involved in the journey, to provide nourishment for our volunteers, to join us as we build, and to raise money towards our matching goal. Together, we will deepen the relationships our affiliate has with local churches, and show how Habitat creates opportunities to walk in love and service for our neighbors in His name.

If you are a leader in your church who would like to learn more about our Faith Build experience, please contact Executive Director, Kate Wright- kate@cheyennehfh.org or 307-637-8067.

Habitat homeowners are selected based on financial criteria, and on the need for a safer, more affordable housing situation. Religious affiliation is never a requirement for home ownership.

We are so excited for the year to come, and are looking forward to telling you more about the plans described above, plus a few more REALLY BIG plans we can't share just yet.

2020 is going to be an exciting adventure for all of us at Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County, we hope you'll support us in whatever way you can as we faithfully work towards our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM OUR

HABITAT FAMILY TO YOURS!
